A Bit of Mulligan Band History
The Band was formed in February 2010 as the Dunkley Mulligan
Band.
Here we see a better quality image of the conductor.
It was a joint effort of the Dunkley Music Stores and Jim
Perkins, the retired conductor of the Borah High School Band.
Five years later the Dunkley store transferred management of the
organization to the Band and on June 24, 2015, the band filed
its original
Articles of Incorporation.
The original directors were Roxann Jensen (clarinet), Eric
Bouchard (clarinet), and Joel Slagg (French Horn).
The Dunkley store moved from Boise to their new location on
Eagle Road in Meridian in 2019.
Our original Leader and Conductor, Jim Perkins, was honored with
the Distinguished Citizen Award by the Idaho Statesman on
December 25, 1977.
Jim has grown the band from a few members at its inception to a
band of 60 - 70 active members in 2023. This despite the
fact that the band went into hibernation from March 2020 until
April 2022 due to the Covid pandemic. The band continues
to thrive with its many enthusiastic members who enjoy the team
sport of making music together.
Jim was recognized by the New Horizons Music Association for his
success in developing the Capital City Mulligan Band
