John Collias, a well-known Boise artist at the time, created a charcoal sketch of Jim. In that era this was a huge parade and all the Boise High Schools and Junior High Schools participated, along with many local clubs and businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2010 Jim started the Dunkely&#8217;s Mulligan Band with a little more than 20 players and it has been growing and going strong ever since. In 2023, following a two-year hiatus due to Covid, the resumed with its previous complement of around 60 active musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 1, 2021 Jim was recognized by the New Horizons Music Association for his success in developing the Capital City Mulligan Band<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"807\" src=\"https:\/\/ccmband.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Roy-Ernst-Award-1024x807.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-84\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ccmband.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Roy-Ernst-Award-1024x807.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ccmband.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Roy-Ernst-Award-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ccmband.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Roy-Ernst-Award-768x606.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ccmband.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Roy-Ernst-Award-1536x1211.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ccmband.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Roy-Ernst-Award-2048x1615.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>On May 20, 2023 the Capital City Mulligan Band had a retirement celebration for Jim Perkins ahead of his final concert on June 4, 2023 at the Boise First Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Under Jim&#8217;s tutelage, these groups won numerous awards in local and statewide competitions.
